Adventurer

ADVENTURER
The Adventurer built on the success of the Thunderbird by extending its
appeal to the American-type of cruiser market, while retaining those
unique styling cues which only Triumph can apply with authenticity.
For 1999 the Adventurer has been completely restyled to enhance its
cruiser credentials, yet remains unmistakably a Triumph at its core.
At the front the forks have been raked out further and a new 19 inch
front wheel fitted, improving the bike's profile. At the back, the new
rear subframe and repositioning of the side panels has allowed a
reduction in seat height of a full 3 inches (76.2mm). The bike itself is
2 inches (50.8mm) narrower, giving it a leaner, hungrier look.
The visual appeal of the Adventurer is assured by the silver painted 3
cylinder engine with its variety of chromed side covers, and can be
further enhanced by the wide range of aftermarket Triumph accessories,
allowing each Adventurer owner to personalise his or her machine.
The Adventurer is designed to attract attention as a high profile
cruising machine and reflect the individuality of its owner, but
nevertheless as a Triumph remains a thoroughly credible road-going
motorcycle. The engine is powerful enough to exhilarate as well as
impress visually, while the high tensile steel frame provides accurate,
stable handling that makes the Adventurer as much a pleasure to ride as
it is to look at.
A restriction kit is available which complies with European Union
Category A Licence regulations (34PS, 33bhp).
NEW FEATURES FOR 1999
1. New custom styling
2. Reduction in overall weight
3. New sidestand
4. New seat
5. Reduced seat height
6. Revised gearing
7. New wheel rims
8. Painted crankcase finish
1. The revised styling goes beyond a change of colour scheme and
includes a more raked out front end (with forks now at 27 degrees rake)
with a larger, 19 inch front wheel.
2. The new frame and revised rear subframe have resulted in the
significant weight reduction of 14kg (31lb), improving handling,
braking, acceleration and manoeuvrability.
3. The sidestand has been lengthened to hold the bike in a more upright
stance and make it easier to lift the bike into the fully upright
position when starting off.
4. The seat has been reshaped with the aim of improving the Adventurer's
looks as well as rider comfort.
5. The seat height has been reduced by 75mm (3.0in) to 675mm (26.6in), a
move made possible by revisions top both the rear subframe and the rear
suspension linkages. In addition, it is 50mm (2.0in) narrower than
before.
6. The overall gearing has been increased to give the Adventurer a more
relaxed feel for cruising. It has also improved the fuel consumption by
7 per cent.
7. The wheel rims are now constructed of chrome plated steel for
improved visual effect.
8. The new silver powder coated crankcase finish is both visually more
attractive as well as more durable.
